Billing, Refunds & Cancellation: Request a Refund or Get Your Money Back

How billing works on TinyTax. Pay-per-filing pricing, refund policy, and cancellation.

Subscription Plans

All prices are per year and exclude VAT.

PlanPriceWhat's Included
Dormant£20/year + VATUnlimited filings for one dormant company
Solo£59/year + VATUnlimited filings for one company
PortfolioFrom £99/year + VATUnlimited filings, priced in tiers from 3 up to 1000 companies — see pricing and plans for the full tier table
MTD VAT Annual£29/year + VATUnlimited VAT returns for one VRN
MTD VAT 12 / 50 / 150 / 250 / 500 / 1000£49 to £263/year + VATPractice tiers — covers up to N VAT registrations (direct + active agent-client relationships)
The Portfolio plan auto-upgrades you to the next tier if you add a company that takes you past your current tier's limit — you're never blocked from adding a company, and there's nothing to contact support about. MTD VAT tiers replace the per-VRN charge — see MTD VAT pricing for the full ladder, agent-client rules, and auto-upgrade behaviour.

All plans include:

  • CT600 submission to HMRC — your corporation tax return, filed digitally
  • Micro-entity accounts to Companies House — iXBRL format, filed electronically
  • Tax computation — generated automatically from your figures
  • Automatic period splitting — handled for you if your accounting period exceeds 12 months
  • Unlimited resubmissions — if HMRC or Companies House reject your filing, resubmit at no extra cost
  • Amendments — resubmit amended returns at no extra cost during your subscription
Visit the pricing page for current prices.

Add-On Subscriptions

Some services are available as separate per-company subscriptions:

ServiceWhat's IncludedBilling
Confirmation Statement (CS01)CS01 filing including £50 CH feeAnnual per company, renews automatically
Add-on subscriptions appear under Company Add-Ons on your billing page. Each is billed independently from your main plan and can be cancelled separately. Visit the filing page or your billing page to see current pricing.

Add-on subscriptions include any applicable government filing fees. For example, the CS01 price includes the £50 Companies House fee.

Payment Methods

Payment is taken by card when you subscribe. We accept all major debit and credit cards. Payment is processed securely via Stripe and you'll receive a receipt immediately.

Invoices and Receipts

Stripe sends you a receipt by email immediately after payment. If you need an invoice for your records or expense claims, you can find it in your Stripe receipt email.

Your TinyTax subscription fee is an allowable business expense. You can include it in your company's administrative expenses.

Automatic Renewal

Your subscription renews automatically on its anniversary date. You'll receive a reminder email before renewal. If you don't want to renew, cancel before your renewal date (see Cancellation below).

Cancelling a Subscription

Cancel your main subscription (Solo or Portfolio)

You can cancel your subscription from the billing page without closing your account:

  1. Log in to TinyTax
  2. Go to your Billing page
  3. Find your subscription card (Solo or Portfolio)
  4. Click Cancel subscription
  5. Select a reason and confirm

What happens when you cancel a subscription:

  • Your subscription remains active until the end of your current billing period — you keep full access until then
  • After it expires, you keep access to all your documents, filing history, and company data
  • You won't be able to submit new filings until you resubscribe
  • You can resubscribe at any time from your billing page
Cancelling your subscription does not close your account. Your data is preserved and you can come back any time.

Changed your mind?

If your subscription hasn't expired yet, you can reactivate it from your billing page at no extra cost — just click Reactivate subscription on the cancelling card.

Cancel an add-on subscription (e.g. CS01)

Add-on subscriptions can be cancelled individually from your billing page:

  1. Log in to TinyTax
  2. Go to your Billing page
  3. Find the add-on under Company Add-Ons
  4. Click Cancel next to the add-on you want to stop
Your add-on remains active until the end of the current billing period.

Close your account entirely

If you want to delete your account and all your data permanently:

  1. Log in to TinyTax
  2. Click your avatar in the top right corner
  3. Go to Profile
  4. Scroll to Close Your TinyTax Account
  5. Click Cancel Account and confirm
Account closure is permanent. All subscriptions are cancelled immediately and your data is deleted. If you just want to stop paying, cancel your subscription from the billing page instead — your data will be preserved.

What happens when you close your account:

  • All subscriptions (main plan and add-ons) are cancelled immediately
  • If you haven't filed any returns, your most recent subscription payment is automatically refunded
  • If you have filed returns, no refund is issued (you've used the service)
  • Your account and data are permanently closed

Refund Policy: How to Request a Refund or Get Your Money Back

How Do I Request a Refund? Can I Get My Money Back?

How you get your money back depends on whether you've used the service. In most cases you don't need to ask — if you're eligible and haven't filed, cancelling your subscription refunds you automatically. Refund eligibility:

SituationRefund?How
Subscribed but haven't filed yetYes — full refundCancel your subscription from the billing page; refund is automatic
Already filed (HMRC accepted or Companies House accepted)No — you've used the serviceSubscription runs to the end of the paid period; access to documents continues
Hit a feature TinyTax doesn't support (e.g. CT600 box not on our form, audited accounts, CIC34 report)Yes — full refundContact support; we issue a manual refund and cancel the subscription
Upgraded to a bigger plan by accident (or chose the wrong tier)Yes — the upgrade charge / price differenceContact support; we revert the plan and refund the difference (see below)
Service outage stopped you filingYes — case-by-caseContact support with the date you tried to file
Account closure with no filingsYes — automatic on closureYour most recent payment is refunded when you close the account
Account closure after filingNoFiling history remains; subscription ends
In most cases you don't need to close your account to get a refund. Just cancel your subscription from the billing page — if you're eligible, the refund happens automatically.

Unsupported-Feature Refunds

If you discover partway through filing that TinyTax doesn't support something your return needs — for example a CT600 box not yet on our form, audited accounts, a CIC34 Community Interest Report, or another edge case — you're entitled to a full refund even though you tried to file. Contact us via support and we'll process it manually. We'd rather you find a route that works than be stuck.

Upgraded by Accident? (Wrong Plan or Unwanted Upgrade Charge)

If you clicked upgrade by mistake — or picked a bigger plan than you need — and were charged for the difference, contact support and we'll put it right. Filing history isn't a barrier here: this refund is for the upgrade charge, not your original subscription.

  • We revert your subscription to the previous plan (keeping your renewal date unchanged), and
  • refund the upgrade charge — the prorated difference you were billed at upgrade time.
The one exception: if you've already filed for more companies than the smaller plan covers, we can't shrink the plan below what you're actively using — contact support and we'll work out the right tier with you.

Refund Timeline

  • Automatic refunds (subscription cancellation with no filings): processed by Stripe immediately when you cancel; the credit appears back on your card in 5–10 business days depending on your bank
  • Manual refunds (unsupported feature, outage, exception): we issue the refund within one working day of receiving your request; Stripe then takes another 5–10 business days to credit your card
  • Account closure refunds: processed immediately when you close the account; 5–10 business days back to your card
Please do not dispute the payment with your bank without contacting us first. We're happy to help resolve any billing issues directly — a chargeback closes the case at the bank and prevents us from issuing a clean refund.

Common Questions

Q: Will I be charged automatically? A: Your subscription renews annually on its anniversary date. You'll receive a reminder email before renewal. Cancel any time from your billing page to stop future charges.

Q: Can I get an invoice for my accountant? A: Yes. Stripe emails you a receipt after each payment, which includes a downloadable invoice.

Q: I subscribed but haven't filed yet — can I get a refund? A: Yes. Cancel your subscription from the billing page. If you haven't submitted any filings, your payment will be refunded automatically and your account stays active.

Q: How do I request a refund? A: It depends on your situation (see the refund table above). If you haven't filed yet, just cancel your subscription from the billing page and the refund is automatic — you don't need to ask. If you hit a feature we don't support, were affected by an outage, or have another exception, contact our support team and we'll process a manual refund within one working day. Please don't raise a chargeback with your bank first — contact us and we'll sort it directly.

Q: I think I've been charged twice — what should I do? A: Contact our support team with the dates and amounts of the charges (your Stripe receipt emails will show these). A common cause is accidentally having two accounts under slightly different email addresses — we'll check, confirm what happened, and refund any genuine duplicate charge.

Q: I want to close my account entirely — how do I do that? A: Go to your profile page and click Cancel Account. This cancels all subscriptions (including add-ons) and closes your account permanently. But consider whether cancelling your subscription from the billing page is enough — your data will be preserved.

Q: How do I cancel just my CS01 subscription? A: Go to your billing page and manage your add-on subscriptions from there. You don't need to close your whole account or cancel your main subscription.

Q: I cancelled my subscription — can I still access my documents? A: Yes. After cancellation, you keep full access to your filing history, documents, and company data. You just can't submit new filings until you resubscribe.

Q: How do I resubscribe after my subscription expires? A: Go to your billing page and click Resubscribe. If your card is still on file, it takes just a few clicks.

Q: Can I switch plans? A: Contact our support team and we'll help you move to a different plan.

Q: I accidentally upgraded my plan and was charged — can I undo it? A: Yes. Contact support and we'll revert you to your previous plan and refund the upgrade charge (the prorated difference you were billed). This applies even if you've already filed returns — it's the upgrade charge being refunded, not your original subscription. The only limit is that we can't move you to a plan smaller than the number of companies you've already filed for.
