Frequently Asked Questions
When is my first set of accounts due?
Companies House: 21 months from incorporation (for the first set only). HMRC CT600: 12 months from the end of the accounting period. Late filing penalties apply on both — TinyTax flags upcoming deadlines on your dashboard.
Do I need prior-year figures?
No. First-year filings have no prior period to compare against. TinyTax skips the prior-year column automatically.
My first period is more than 12 months — what happens?
Companies House permits a first accounting period up to 18 months. For corporation tax, HMRC requires two CT600 submissions because periods can't exceed 12 months. TinyTax auto-splits and apportions for you.
Can I file a dormant first year?
Yes. If your company didn't trade in the first period, file a dormant first set — see our dormant company feature page for details.
