Company types TinyTax can't file for

Which UK company types TinyTax cannot file CT600 or accounts for — PLC, limited partnership, overseas, private unlimited, sole trader — and what to use instead.

TinyTax is built for the most common UK Corporation Tax filers — limited companies, charities, and registered societies. A handful of company types fall outside what we can handle. This guide explains which ones and what to do instead.

Company types we can't file for

Company typeWhyWhat to do instead
Public Limited Company (PLC)PLCs require statutory audit. TinyTax only generates micro-entity / FRS 105 accounts, which a PLC can't file.Use an accountant to prepare audited accounts and file via commercial CT600 software. HMRC's own free filing service closed on 31 March 2026, so commercial software or an accountant is now the only online route.
Limited Partnership (LP)LPs are taxed as partnerships (SA800), not corporations — there's no CT600 to file. Different from LLPs.Each partner files their share of profit on their personal Self Assessment. The partnership itself files SA800 with HMRC; we don't handle SA800.
Overseas / oversea-companyBranches and registered overseas entities have different filing obligations than UK-incorporated companies.Use an accountant familiar with non-resident company taxation, or commercial CT600 software that supports non-resident returns.
UK establishment of an overseas companySame reason as overseas companies. As above.
Registered overseas entity (ROE)These are property-ownership registrations, not trading entities — different filing regime.Use an accountant.
Private unlimited companyDifferent reporting requirements; we don't generate the right format.Use an accountant or commercial CT600 software.
Sole traderNot a company — sole traders file Self Assessment (SA100/SA103), not CT600.File via HMRC's Self Assessment online service or specialist self-employment software.

Things that look like they might be unsupported but aren't

Some entity types people assume we don't handle — but we do. If your company is one of these, we can help:

  • Charity / Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO / SCIO) — CT600 + CT600E supplement via Manual Entry. See Charities and community benefit societies.
  • Limited Liability Partnership (LLP) — accounts only (LLPs don't file CT600). See Filing LLP Accounts.
  • Community Interest Company (CIC) / Company Limited by Guarantee (CLG) — full CT600 + accounts. See CICs and CLGs.
  • Community benefit society / registered society / friendly society / co-op — CT600 only (accounts go to the FCA). See the charities and societies guide above.
