Accounts Filed Directly with Companies House — Dashboard Status Not Updated

If you filed your accounts directly with Companies House — rather than through TinyTax — your dashboard may not update straight away, even once Companies House has accepted the filing.

Why the Dashboard Doesn't Update Instantly

TinyTax shows your filing status based on data it fetches from Companies House, not in real time. A background sync checks companies whose accounts are due or overdue on a rolling basis, and it can take a little while to reach any individual company.

If you filed on Companies House directly (for example via WebFiling or GOV.UK One Login) and got a Companies House acceptance email with a submission reference number, your filing is done — Companies House holds the accepted accounts regardless of what TinyTax's dashboard currently shows.

How to Update It Sooner

You don't have to wait for the background sync. On your dashboard, next to the page title, there's a Refresh button (it sits beside the "Synced X ago" text). Clicking it checks Companies House immediately for every company in your account and updates your dashboard on the spot.

If you have a large portfolio of companies, one click might only refresh the stalest ones — the rest catch up automatically within 24 hours, or you can click Refresh again after a minute to process another batch.

What To Do

  1. Click Refresh on your dashboard.
  2. Your dashboard should then show the accepted accounts for the period, matching what Companies House has on record.
  3. If it's still showing as outstanding after using Refresh and the acceptance is confirmed on the Companies House public register, contact us at [email protected] with your company number and submission reference and we'll look into it.

Common Questions

I filed through Companies House, not TinyTax — does that matter?

No. TinyTax's dashboard reflects whatever Companies House's own records show for your company, regardless of which service you used to file. It doesn't need the accounts to have gone through TinyTax to recognise them as filed.

Will I be charged again if I file through TinyTax for the same period?

No — if Companies House already shows the accounts as accepted for a period, TinyTax won't offer to file that period again once the dashboard has synced.
