profit and loss

profit/loss before tax treats both current and previous years the same i.e. both have to be profit or both have to be loss according to text, needing manual override for prev year

Thanks for the feedback. You're right that the label applies to both years — since there's only one row label, we use the current year to determine whether it says "Profit" or "Loss". In your case the current year is a loss and the prior year was a profit, so the label doesn't quite match the prior year column.

The good news is your figures and filed accounts are all correct — the prior year shows as £27,405 (positive) which is right, and the iXBRL data submitted to HMRC and Companies House has the correct values.

Maybe in this case it could be
Profit/(Loss)
Great product by the way, look forward to MTD VAT hopefully 👍

That's a great idea, and thanks again for flagging it.

We’ve now updated TinyTax so that when the current and prior year have different signs, the row label is shown as “Profit/(Loss)” (and equivalent variants such as “Surplus/(Deficit)” for manual-entry accounts), rather than forcing a single profit-or-loss wording across both columns.

So for cases like yours, the label will now match the mixed-year presentation without needing a manual override.

Also really appreciate the kind words about the product. MTD VAT is on our roadmap and we’ll share updates as soon as we’re ready.
