Do I sign up now?

I don’t need to do a tax return until march 2027, should I open my account now and pay for this year or wait?

Your March 2027 deadline falls within a 12-month subscription starting now, so if you sign up today you would be covered for that filing.

That said, there is no advantage to subscribing early versus waiting. The price is the same whenever you sign up, and you can create an account and subscribe right up until the day you want to file.

Most directors sign up when they are getting close to filing and have their figures ready — the main things you will need are your trial balance (or Xero if you use that), your HMRC Government Gateway credentials, and your Companies House authentication code.

If you want to explore the form and see what to expect ahead of time, you are welcome to sign up now. But waiting until early 2027 when you are ready to file works just as well.
