CT600A Form Handling Functionality

Hi, I understand that the current software version does not support CT600A form functionality and my query is regarding any plans for this to be added at some future point. The purpose of my query is that I am interested in subscribing to tinyTAX but for my simple filing for the year ended 31 March I need the CT600A functionality and happy to wait if this is in your plans as I still have time until the end of 2026. If CT600A it is not in your plans is there any advise from your side on assumption that I subscribe to tinyTAX. Many Thanks in advance for your assistance. Kind Regards. A Xiradakis

Hi Apostolos — good question, and worth knowing before you subscribe.

TinyTax does not currently support the CT600A supplementary page. The platform handles director loans to the company (where you have lent money to your company — a credit balance on the director loan account), but not the reverse: loans from the company to a director where Section 455 tax applies and a CT600A is required.

Whether you need a CT600A depends on the director loan account balance at your 31 March year end:

- If the company has lent money to a director and the account is overdrawn at period end, a CT600A is required and TinyTax cannot file that for you at this time.
- If it is the director who has lent money to the company (the company owes the director), the DLA sits as a creditor on the balance sheet and no CT600A is needed — TinyTax handles this scenario fine.

If you do need a CT600A, your practical options are:
1. Repay the overdrawn balance before 31 March — if the account is cleared at period end, no S455 tax applies and no CT600A is needed.
2. Declare a dividend sufficient to clear the balance (assuming you have distributable reserves).
3. File the CT600 and accounts through TinyTax, then file the CT600A separately via HMRC's own online service — HMRC accepts supplementary pages filed separately.

On the roadmap question: we do not publish a public roadmap, so I cannot confirm whether or when CT600A support will be added. If it is a deciding factor, option 3 above (file the main return through TinyTax, supplementary page direct with HMRC) is the most practical workaround if your situation requires it.

Happy to answer any other questions.

Hi Many Thanks for your quick response. It seems that point 3 in your response might work for me if I decide to join tinyTAX. However, a couple more questions for further clarification. (1) I see that most recommendations on the web point towards a more integrated approach whereby the software does everything for consistency. Not sure how much of a problem will be submitting the CT600A directly to HMRC detached from the CT600? (2) If I go ahead and submit the CT600A outside of tinyTAX directly to HMRC, how do I record and show the overdrawn directors account (as a debtor) in tinyTAX? Many Thanks again in advance for all your valuable advise. Kind Regards, Apo

Good questions — happy to clarify both.

**On filing the CT600A separately from HMRC:** This is an established approach and works in practice. HMRC accepts the CT600A as a standalone submission after the main CT600 has been filed — the two are matched in their system by your company UTR. The important thing is consistency: the S455 tax figure on the CT600A (33.75% of the overdrawn balance at the period end) needs to be declared to HMRC, even though TinyTax itself will not calculate it. So you would file the CT600 through TinyTax, then separately file the CT600A via HMRC Online Services entering the overdrawn balance and the S455 amount.

**On recording the overdrawn directors loan account in TinyTax:** An overdrawn DLA is money owed to the company by the director, so it sits as a debtor on the balance sheet. In the TinyTax balance sheet section, go to the **Debtors** area and enter the overdrawn balance under **Other debtors** (there may also be a row specifically labelled "Director loan account" depending on your period — use that if it appears, otherwise Other debtors is correct). This ensures the accounts correctly reflect the asset and the balance sheet balances.

One practical note: TinyTax will not automatically populate any S455 tax entry on the CT600 from the DLA figure you enter in the balance sheet — that link only exists when CT600A is directly supported. When filing the CT600A separately, you calculate 33.75% of the period-end overdrawn balance yourself and enter it on the HMRC supplementary form.

If you would like to see exactly how the balance sheet section looks before subscribing, you can work through the filing form in TinyTax without payment being required until the point of submission.
