What documents do I get after filing a dormant CT600?
After a dormant CT600 is accepted, TinyTax stores your accounts PDF and the CT600 form PDF in the dashboard drawer. Here's where to find them and what's included.
Once your dormant CT600 and dormant accounts have been accepted, TinyTax stores everything you need against the period in your dashboard — including a PDF copy of the CT600 return that was filed with HMRC. This guide walks through what you get and how to find it.
Where your documents live
- Go to your dashboard and find the company
- Click the green ✅ Accepted badge on the relevant period row, or the → arrow on the far right of the row
- The side panel opens — scroll down to the Documents section
What documents you get for a dormant filing
For a dormant period where both filings have been accepted, you'll see:
| Document | Format | What it is |
|---|---|---|
| Dormant accounts (filleted) | iXBRL, PDF | The version filed at Companies House |
| Full accounts | HTML, PDF | The full director-signed copy for your records |
| CT600 form | The traditional paper form layout of the return sent to HMRC, filled in with your company's details and the nil values |
About the CT600 PDF
The CT600 PDF is a rendering of HMRC's paper CT600 form with your return data filled in. For a dormant filing the numeric boxes are all zeros (as they should be — the company had no trade), and the form shows the company name, number, UTR, accounting period, and the dormant declaration. It's the same format trading companies receive; the only difference is the figures are nil.
HMRC doesn't require you to submit a PDF — every CT600 is filed electronically as XML — but many filers like a PDF copy alongside the accounts for their records, for an accountant, or for audit.
How do I prove the CT600 was filed?
Your filing is held in three places:
- Your dashboard — the row shows a green ✅ Accepted badge once HMRC confirms the submission
- The CT600 PDF — available from the Documents panel once the row is accepted
- HMRC's records — the filing is logged against your company's UTR and will appear in your HMRC online services account once their back office finishes processing (usually within a working day)
Common Questions
I can see the dormant accounts PDF but not the CT600 PDF — what's wrong?
The CT600 PDF appears in the Documents section of the side panel, alongside the accounts. If the row shows ✅ Accepted but the CT600 PDF isn't listed, give it a moment and refresh — document generation happens asynchronously and can take a few seconds after acceptance. If it's still missing after a hard refresh (Cmd+Shift+R on Mac, Ctrl+Shift+R on Windows), contact support and we'll regenerate it for you.
Will HMRC ask me for a CT600 PDF?
No. HMRC has the electronic submission on their side and references it by transaction ID. They never ask filers to provide a PDF copy. The PDF is purely for your records.
How is this different from a trading company?
Trading filings produce more documents because there's more to record:
| Document | Dormant | Trading |
|---|---|---|
| Dormant accounts (filleted) | ✅ | — |
| Full accounts | ✅ | ✅ |
| Filleted accounts | — | ✅ |
| CT600 form PDF | ✅ | ✅ |
| Tax computations | — | ✅ |
Why does the dashboard not show a "View documents" option for my dormant filing?
That option only appears once HMRC and Companies House have both accepted the filing and the row is showing the green Accepted badge. If you've just filed, give it a few minutes for the acceptance to come back. If after an hour the badge still isn't showing, contact support.
