Filing Reminders Explained
TinyTax sends filing reminders automatically when you have accounts or returns that are prepared but not yet submitted. This guide explains what reminders mean and how to act on them.
What Filing Reminders Are
Filing reminders are automated emails sent when:
- You have previewed your accounts or CT600 but have not submitted them yet
- Your filing deadline is approaching
- Companies House records show the period is still outstanding
TinyTax Is Self-Service Software
TinyTax is a self-service filing tool. This means:
- We prepare your documents based on the figures you enter
- You submit them to HMRC and Companies House using your own credentials (Government Gateway ID and Companies House authentication code)
- We cannot file on your behalf — submission requires your credentials, which only you hold
How to Complete the Filing
Option 1 — Use the link in the reminder email:
Click the Complete Filing button in the reminder email. This takes you directly to the submission page for that filing session.
Option 2 — Go via your dashboard:
- Log in to TinyTax
- Find the company on your dashboard
- Click the Actions button next to the filing period
- Select Continue Filing (or Start Filing if you have not started yet)
Common Questions
I replied "yes" to the reminder email — what happens now?
Nothing automatic happens. Your reply comes through to our support team, but we cannot act on it — filing requires your Companies House authentication code, which only you hold. Please follow the steps above to complete the filing yourself.
I have already filed elsewhere — will I keep getting reminders?
If you have filed through another service, you can stop the reminders by clicking Unsubscribe from filing reminders in the email footer. You can also mark the period as filed elsewhere on your dashboard by clicking Actions then Mark as filed elsewhere.
My filing deadline is soon — what should I do?
Log in and submit as soon as possible. Companies House imposes late filing penalties if accounts are filed after the deadline.
