short-period CT600

Hi everyone,

I’m trying to submit a short-period CT600 for my company for 1 Mar 2025 – 31 Dec 2025 because we’re closing the business. TinyTax won’t let me select the period and says it hasn’t ended yet.

Has anyone done a short-period CT600 on TinyTax? Any tips or advice would be really appreciated!

TinyTax does support short-period CT600s for company closures. Here's how to do it:

1. Go to tinytax.co.uk and sign up / log in 2. Search for your company 3. Select the next due period 4. Click "Edit" to set your own dates 5. Enter your short period: 1 Mar 2025 – 31 Dec 2025

However - you won't be able to file until after 31 December has passed. HMRC doesn't accept CT600 returns for periods that haven't ended yet, regardless of whether it's a final return. Once 1 January 2026 arrives, you'll be able to complete and submit. Or if the end date is earlier than 17 December you can go ahead today.

Thank you for your guidance on short-period CT600s for company closures. I’m trying to follow the steps, but I cannot find the “Edit” option on my dashboard after selecting the next due period. it still give me this message: "This period hasn't ended yet
Your accounting period ending 28 February 2026 is still in progress. You can file for this period in 74 days."

Could you please advise exactly where I can access the Edit button to set my short period from 1 Mar 2025 – 17 Dec 2025?

Ah I see the issue. We'll just address that and then you should be able to continue shortly. I will let you know within the hour.

Please try again. There should be a button for you to now edit dates as final return.

1. Click on http://tinytax.test/dashboard/ 2. Click "Start filing" > "CT600 only" 3. On the field "Accounting Period *" change to "28 February 2026" 4. On the modal that opens choose "Set final return dates"

That should then let you change the end date for the current period.
