Login Locked — Too Many Attempts
Need help getting past the "too many login attempts" message on the TinyTax login page? This guide explains what causes it and how to get back in.
What Causes the Lockout?
For security, TinyTax temporarily blocks login attempts after several consecutive failures. If you see "Too many login attempts. Please wait.", your account has hit this limit.
The lockout applies to:
- Your email address — 5 failed attempts within 15 minutes triggers a block
- Your IP address — 20 failed attempts from the same IP address within 15 minutes triggers a block
Does Resetting My Password Clear the Lockout?
No. Resetting your password does not clear the failed attempt counter. The lockout is separate from your password — it is based purely on the number of failed attempts within the time window.
If you reset your password and then try to log in immediately, the "too many attempts" message will still appear until the 15-minute window has elapsed.
How to Fix It
Step 1: Wait 15 minutes
Do not try to log in again during this time — each failed attempt resets the timer. Wait the full 15 minutes from your most recent attempt.
Step 2: Use your new password
If you have just reset your password, make sure you are entering the new password (not the old one). Check your email for the password reset confirmation and copy the new password if needed.
Step 3: Try again
After 15 minutes, go to https://tinytax.co.uk/login and log in with your email address and new password.
Still Locked Out?
If you have waited more than 15 minutes and are still seeing the error, contact support at hello@tinytax.co.uk — we can check your account and help get you back in.
