Why Your Dashboard Still Shows the Previous Accounting Period

TinyTax shows the current period on your dashboard until both the CT600 and the Companies House accounts for that period are complete. If you have marked the CT600 as "Filed Elsewhere" but the accounts have not yet been filed, the dashboard will continue to show the existing period until the accounts are resolved.

What the Dashboard Is Telling You

Your dashboard shows a row for each accounting period. Each row has two status indicators:

  • CT600 — your corporation tax return filed with HMRC
  • Accounts — your annual accounts filed at Companies House
Both must be complete (green tick) before TinyTax moves on and shows the next accounting year. If the CT600 shows a green tick but the accounts still show an empty circle, there is one more step to take.

What to Do

If your accounts for the previous period have not yet been filed, click File Accounts on the dashboard row for that period. TinyTax will guide you through filing dormant or trading accounts at Companies House.

If your accounts were already filed by a previous accountant or accountancy software, Companies House should have them on record. TinyTax checks the Companies House register periodically — once it detects the accounts are filed, the status will update automatically. This can take up to a few hours.

If you filed accounts externally and the status has not updated after 24 hours, contact hello@tinytax.co.uk and we will check the status manually.

After the Accounts Are Filed

Once your accounts are accepted at Companies House, TinyTax will show the next accounting period on your dashboard. If the new period does not appear within a few hours of your accounts being accepted, contact hello@tinytax.co.uk and we will add it manually.
